(a very special) new music: 10.24.08

new music is something i always try to do but fall short of updating, the idea it's me telling you what i've been listening to for the last week or so, and giving you the chance to check out something you might not normally check out. so yeah... I'll just start up new music right now.

Matt and Kim- daylight
i first saw Matt and Kim last week on you "rock the deuce". they hosted the whole damn thing , they seemed like your basic Brooklyn hipster trash, and I'm not trying to say there anything other than that but they had alot of fun in the video for daylight and i had the song stuck in my head for a few days.

3oh!3-starstrukk
i love 30h!3, just fun, techno beats and filthy lyrics, starstrukk in particular has this ridiculously catchy whistling part in the chorus, that combined with their lack of discretion in demeaning women which stating themselves as intellectual new age hipsters makes them a win.

chromeo- Bonafied Lovin' (Tough Guys)
the first song i heard by chromeo was "momma's boy" which is great song, but does not prepare for the energy that's all over fancy footwork, the duo's sophomore effort... as far energy is concerned, it doesn't get much better then bonafied lovin' a song about someone who feels like like their much more mature than whoever their with right now..the only reason i'm even talking about the premise in such a reading rainbow fashion is to bring up the line " Nevermind a SMS, what you need is a sweet caress"...too good

Ludacris- what them girls like (feat. Chris Brown)
ludacris and chris brown FTW, i have not gotten tired of this song yet, it's repetitive not a new concept(it seems ludacris and chris know what them girls like as it were)not a revolutionary but if you like ANY Ludacris it's pretty much all the same..excpet the song he did with Mary j Blige about girls who runaway, that was weird

Ben Folds- Hiroshima(B B B Benny hits his head)
this is song ENTIRELY about Ben Folds tripping on stage at a show in japan, passing out and have to get head x-rays... so it's clearly a relatable concept... maybe not, but it is catchy

Lily Allen- Fuck you very much
for some reason this song comes up at "guess who batman" still though it's a poppy as you expect a Lily Allen song to be... and then some

Forgive Durden- "It's True Love" (ft. Greta Salpeter of The Hush Sound)
this is off of the new Forgive Durden cd which i am eagerly awaiting, this song is great, greta's voice perfectly colpiments forgive durden's Thomas Dutton, it's somber and heavy with orchestra but while you'd expect this to get cluttered or be a contradiction the flow of it is really romantic and gorgeous to the ears

that was new music for the week of 10.24.08, it's not a perfect formula, but take a listen and tell me what you think

BrendanFM

Prologue: AWWWWW Yeah!

hello, readers and illiterate alike

My name is Brendan Francis Mullen, lately i have taken to calling myself BrendanFM on these things though. This is my way too formal introduction to something no one may ever read. more often than not i like to wax intellectual about music, movies and TV alike, but since my forum posting and my talking to myself about the unimportant issues of entertainment has surprisingly not produced fame and fortune or even provoked interest. I felt i needed to work on making my thoughts more cohesive and clever. So what i plan to do with this thing here is polish my reviewing skills for the too many movies and tv shows i watch, talk about music/movies/wrestling/video game/comics news through out the week, post my mix tapes(which i constantly make) and just get my opinion on how shitty i feel EVERYTHING is.

so how interested are you in what i have to offer? that depends, if you consider yourself a judgmental ass, who tries to keep up on the latest music. i really try and listen to a wide variety of the latest music... for a feel of what i listen to check out my last.fm page.
i also have in movies and tv, movies i have a leaning towards stupid comedies and horror, but i do watch drama and small independent films too. so, you'll just have to take a wait and see approach as to if you like the same movies as i do, you feel my dawg? as for TV i'm honestly just gonna post reviews on what i watch that i feel like reviewing, maybe I'll do a running review on shows i watch consistently. I'm also a a comic, video game and wrestling nerd, soooo, i got that going for me... maybe I'll incorporate that somehow, i mention this because i feel like i shouldn't be ashamed of my interests, whatever though I'll cross that bridge when i come to it.

so thats me, and I'm terrible at wrapping these things up... so, yeah check out my various written segments through out the month.
